The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water is responsible for the delivery of all water for the environment in NSW. This includes water held by the Commonwealth Environmental Water Office.

The Environmental Trust has awarded Murray Local Land Services a one-off River Connections grant of $8,999,200 for its project ‘Refreshing River Management: New partnership and stewardship pathways for improving river health’.

On 28 and 29 March 2023, the Murray and Lower Darling Environmental Water Advisory Group (EWAG) met for a field trip to Koondrook-Perricoota (KP) Forest and Millewa Forest in Murray Valley National Park.

The Murray Lower Darling Environmental Water Advisory Group convened online on 14 May 2024 to discuss the Lower Darling catchment's updates and future plans.
